Facts and frequently asked questions
-
What makes Fibaseal different from other products in the range?
Fibaseal is made with a specifically formulated acrylic polymer and other additives to deal with the harsh climatic conditions of coastal areas and has a unique anti-cracking agent in it’s formulation.
-
Can I apply Fibaseal to wood?
Depending on the timber, you can apply Fibaseal to wood such as shutterply, fascia boards and wendy houses. You just need to make sure the timber is not oily and is clean and dry. It is also recommended to use Bond & Seal as a primer prior to applying Fibaseal to wood.
-
Will Fibaseal be good to use in box gutters?
Fibaseal does not like to remain underwater so if the box gutters are level they often have ponding occurring in them which may cause Fibaseal to de-laminate.
-
Will Fibaseal stick to polycarbonate roof sheeting?
One would have to roughen up the roof sheeting where you are going to apply the Fibaseal to create a key, then the Fibaseal should adhere sufficiently well.
-
Can I use Fibaseal to seal my roof screws.
Yes, perfect application, go round and round the screw with the brush and make it thick.
-
Can I use Fibaseal for a fish pond?
While we have tested Fibaseal underwater, it tends to soften over time, I would rather recommend Bond & Seal in conjunction with cement powder mixed to a paintable slurry (refer to methods of application for Bond & Seal).
-
Can I use Bond & Seal under my shower tiling?
Yes, you can - refer to Methods of Application (Download pdf)).
-
Can I use Fibaseal as a dampproofer internally on the wall of my house?
This is not recommended as Fibaseal will trap the water in the wall and tend to “bubble”, it is best to apply the Fibaseal on the outside of the house where the water is coming from, then to let the wall dry out and treat accordingly.
-
Can I use Bond & Seal on it’s own as a waterproofer?
No, Bond & Seal on it’s own is not UV stable. It needs to be used in conjunction with cement as a slurry if it is to be a top coat.
-
Can I use Bond & Seal as a primer before I paint a wall?
Yes, mixed 50/50 with water, it makes an excellent primer for cretestone as well as an external primer prior to painting your top coat.
-
Can Fibaseal take human traffic?
Yes, it is recommended that the surface be coated three times and that no sharp objects are on the surface.
